The Annual Columbus Day Regatta returned to the protected bay waters of Biscayne Bay near Elliott Key as it has for decades. Despite rumors that the Biscayne National Park service was attempting to “shut down” the pilgimage to sun and fun, the park service backed off just two months earlier after public outcry urged the park officials to leave the park the way it is, and let the boaters play. And play they did…as the warm weather and clear skies brought thousands of boaters in full force over three days, with every kind of recreational boat imaginable. The parties went all day and night, as many overly ambitious captains equipped their small center console boats with generators and night-club caliber sound systems. Law enforcement was out in full force, as it should be, and while the party was festive, it was never out of control. The FPC cruiser CLUBHOUSE provided an ideal platform for other club members to raft up and enjoy the day. Among them, Kenny Armstrong & Tom Abraham in their MTI cats; Kerry Leong from Canada and Brad Schoenwald in the Outerlimits, Holy Smoke. Special thanks to Mark Palanchian for the cases of beads which provided a great way to get the ladies to bare their assets. Oh my gosh….would they do that for a five cent bead necklace? Check out the photos… Sorry for the censorship guys…this is a classy website!
