RE: Current Update on Covid-19 Event Cancellations & Postponements
————————————————————————————————————-
Recognizing the continued threat of the Coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty we face as a nation in the coming months, FPC is continuing to modify our 2020 poker run event calendar with the following changes to the May 2020 event calendar.
May 15-17, 2020: 2nd Annual Midnight Express Bimini Rendezvous
CANCELLED for this year. No re-scheduled dates.
This decision was made collectively with the owners of Midnight Express, and we feel it was extremely prudent on their part. Due to their busy schedule at the factory to complete existing orders, combined with the uncertainty of the coming months, the owners do not feel there is a reasonable postponement dates. However, should the climate change by Fall 2020, Florida Powerboat Club will be offering it’s FALL BIMINI BLAST, with proposed NEW DATES as Sept 18-20, 2020.
May 28-31, 2020: 2nd Annual Orange Beach Powerboat Week: The Wharf
Postponed until further notice.
Following an announcement by the Wharf management team to cancel its May 23 Summer Beach Ball Drop event, and by recording artists Brooks & Dunn, to cancel their May 30th concert date at the Wharf Amphitheater, Florida Powerboat Club has followed this course, by suspending plans to proceed with this late May Orange Beach poker run event. Participants with prepaid event fees will be able to exercise several options on how to proceed, including carrying over 100% of their poker run fee to the FPC’s Emerald Coast, Bahamas, or November Key West Poker Runs. (or carry forward to New dates for the re-scheduled Orange Beach event.)
We apologize to all members, sponsors, lodging partners and service providers for any inconvenience, however we feel that suspending these proposed May events are keeping with federal, state and local government guidelines and warnings from our nation’s leading medical professionals. Above all, we must also recognize that thousands of fellow Americans are currently suffering with this horrible disease, or worse, mourning the loss of loved ones who have succumbed to Covid-19.
Let us be unified in our support of social distancing guidelines, put our lust for lifestyle adventures aside for the time being, and focus on fighting this global pandemic crisis.
